About

The product that listens for a living.

Uwasa is an AI visibility and search intelligence product from Octopolis, an independent product lab in Kansas City, Missouri, founded in 2026 by Elijah Kleinsmith. Agencies use the software to measure and win AI answer visibility for their clients. Kansas City businesses can hire the hands-on service directly. Social listening joins the product in Fall 2026, because the name demands it.

Why “Uwasa”?

Uwasa is Japanese for rumor: the things people say about you when you're not in the room. That used to mean word of mouth. Now it means a chatbot answering “who should I trust” with one name, a voice assistant reading a single result aloud, an AI Overview deciding which three businesses exist.

The rumor got automated. Uwasa hears it, measures it and helps you change what it says.

The product is named for the rumor. The assistant inside it is named Mimi, Japanese for ear, because something has to catch it.

Who runs Uwasa?

Elijah Kleinsmith
Founder · Octopolis, Kansas City

Uwasa was built and is run by Elijah Kleinsmith in Kansas City. It is deliberately small: the person who built the report runner is the person who answers the demo call.

The pitch is simple. Search stopped being ten blue links and started being one written answer, and most businesses, and most of the agencies serving them, have no idea what that answer says. Somebody should measure it properly, explain it in plain English and charge a published price. So that is the product.

How we work

Plain English

Every finding says what is broken, what it costs you and how to fix it. If a sentence needs an acronym, it gets a definition.

Testable claims

We do not guarantee rankings and we do not fake testimonials. Every claim in a report can be checked by asking the same tools we asked.

Yours to keep

Reports belong to you and your clients. White-label means your name, not ours.

The lab

Uwasa is the first product from Octopolis.

A product lab building intelligent software for how organizations listen, speak and respond. The octopus story lives there now.
